Copper deficiency causes anemia and neurologic dysfunction; selenium deficiency causes cardiomyopathy; chromium deficiency leads to insulin resistance. Supplementing zinc (2.5–5 mg/day in PN, more with GI losses) is critical. Correction improves skin lesions and wound healing.
