CPT is always tied to academic enrollment. If a student withdraws or drops the course linked to CPT authorization, the DSO is obligated to cancel the CPT in SEVIS. CPT cannot exist independently of curricular requirements, and employment without the linked academic element becomes unauthorized. When authorizing CPT, the DSO must enter essential details such as the employer’s name, physical location, the start and end dates of employment, and the designation of the position as part-time or full-time.
